11 February 2021 – Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Director General Jeremiah Belgica and Deputy Directors General Ernesto Perez, Eduardo Bringas, and Carlos Quita met with Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas yesterday to discuss areas of collaboration in anti-red tape initiatives.
ARTA is to provide support to the PNP’s Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA). Under Section 5 of Republic Act 11032, ARTA shall coordinate with all government offices covered by said law in the review of existing laws, executive issuances, and local ordinances. All proposed regulations of government agencies shall undergo RIA to establish if the proposed regulation does not add undue regulatory burden and cost to these agencies and the applicants or requesting parties.
The PNP chief, on the other hand, expressed the agency’s support in strengthening ARTA’s anti-fixer campaign and directed Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Acting Director Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro to provide assistance in ARTA’s spot inspections of government agencies.
ARTA and PNP will be working on a Memorandum of Agreement to detail the agencies’ collaborative effort in the campaign against red tape and fixers.
