08 April 2021  – The Anti-Red Tape Authority is joining the call of President Rodrigo Duterte to the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) to speed up the payment of its obligations to hospitals.

With this, ARTA Director General Jeremiah Belgica renewed the agency’s commitment to help PhilHealth resolve the backlog of hospital claims.

“We have the right guy there that we just need to help. He is a proven public servant,” he said, referring to PhilHealth President and CEO Dante Gierran.
Last Tuesday, Belgica was invited at the virtual dialogue of PhilHealth and the Philippine Hospital Association.

There, the ARTA chief laid down ways on how they can assist the state insurer to fastly settle its reimbursements.

“ARTA has offices that help come up with more rational solution and in reengineering systems,” Belgica said, noting that ARTA will be working closely with PhilHealth in identifying bottlenecks in the latter’s processes and streamlining before finally shifting to its planned automation.

“One of the things that we encountered with other government agencies is that some would jump to automation without first seeing the most rational and simplified process,” Belgica explained.

“[W]e cannot automate without first removing redundancies and streamlining the process,” he added.

Apart from this, the ARTA czar also stressed that sanctions will be imposed to those who will be found deliberately delaying the release of hospital claims.

“[A]nyone who is holding up ng kanilang proseso whether unwittingly or with negligence, hindi po ito tinotolerate ng ating Pangulo,” Belgica said.
